the end of 2009

Can't believe that 09 is almost over and haven't posted more pictures of Clare the wonder dog.
She is bundled up on the sofa watching TV. She is an avid TV watcher, her favorite show is the "Dog Whisperer".

"you want me to do what??????"

This picture is her reaction when S said she had to get off the sofa, she looks ferocious, but she is mostly confused as to why we even ask her to be a dog,,,she thinks she is human.
These are random shots from our quilt lady Xmas party. Playing a trivia game with quilt ladies is difficult, having to answer questions to get a door prize is altogether too much work.

Quilt ladies and rolling the dice for free fabric is much more to our liking, we will do anything for fabric.

Goodbye 09, you had your moments, but as a whole I am ready for you to go. 2010, wow, lets keep our fingers crossed. Happy Holidays
everybody!

CBQ charity auction and sale

Here are two pictures of the same group. More realistic is the first one, yes I am trying to orchestrate the picture, even though the kid snapping the picture is perfectly capable of point and shoot. But in reality, I handed him the camera, but failed to tell him which of the several buttons to push. So there is a reason...but my husband and children will say that is me all the time....it is really unfair. Sort of.

Needless to say, we had a great group, they all did a fantastic job, and the charity will get some money....which they need desperately.

the third picture is there to show some of the quilts that were for sale, but always try to get in a picture of my BFF, Linda, she is always so great about helping me out when I get behind..Thanks, Linda

Cobb Show Again

More pictures from the Cobb Show.
This is DB our president, she is doing great, and am sure she will have a great year. The rest are the quilts that really caught my eye

Oh, and a correction, we ate at "Sugar Cakes", not "Baby cakes that I said in the last post.

Lost in the Chaos

I have been having a lot of fun these past weeks, latest thing was the every other year, "Cobb Show". It is a wonderful quilt show, with many amazing quilts and lots of vendors selling all kinds of new stuff in quilting. This is 4 of our 8 members of our sewing bee, aren't they gorgeous! Wonderful women and quilters all.

Just acouple of the quilts on display, took tons of pictures, will post more later.

I had to include a picture of dessert. We all had to have it, but it was so rich and filling, we all felt about to burst. Isn't it beautiful, and so decadent and tasty. We had lunch at "Babycakes" on the Square in Marietta. Lunch was delicious, the ride home not so great, but we stopped at Red Hen, like we needed more fabric after the show, but every shop seems to have something we had to have.

It was a wonderful day and next month we are going to The Ga State Fair in Perry, they have a quilt contest there that we will have to check out.
Hopefully, not too long until I post again, but , fun is fun.

backyard revisited

okay this backyard business has been going on since April, and it is almost done...finally

the first two pictures depict how it looked 3 days ago

The next two are how it looks with the grass in. Great, huh? I wanted to include a picture of the inground sprinklers going, but they are still putting in the new sprinkler box.
To think this whole area used to be just trees, and nothing but trees...now we have a backyard...hooray!

Kaleidoscopes

These single kaleidoscopes have become....

These... at the retreat where I had quiet and the ability to concentrate I finally was able to implement the setting I wanted for these lovely blocks. I think it looks pretty striking!

the background color and the stripe work well together. of course block out the light color of my design wall,

See retreats are a good thing, you get so much done

Clare is a model

Clare is spectacular in her new backpack. She will now be able to carry stuff on our walks, like keys, phone, camera, poop bags and of course some water. She loves it, just wishes it were pink,(her signature color)

This is my BFF L, she is so happy to be at our Quilting Retreat over the weekend. There was great food, many other quilters and lots of inspiration. hope we can go back next year

Another Father's Day

This year we tried something new. A Thai restaurant, one that a quilt lady suggested at a bee meeting the week before, and given a great quilt lady endorsement, she said "It was lovely". Who can argue with that, plus it was close and in a new building.
Walking in, there was a very Asian, but somehow homey environment, the staff spoke English and were very nice and helpful.
I had coconut soup, which I love, but this soup had a hot sauce added at the end, not my favorite.
When P and Em walked in, P's nose went up and he said he didn't like Thai food or the way it smelled. Eventually, I had to tell him to suck it up, it was Fathers Day and Dad loves Thai food.

This is B and S cutting up over wearing bifocals, B can look just as nerdy as S, just way younger!!!

This is P not wanting his picture taken. If he could send me some that Em took, I would have better ones for my blog. I will find the best one I can and post it tomorrow.

For some reason, I took too few pics and there are no women in this post, P was off celebrating with her dad, being a good daughter, we missed her.

Most importantly S enjoyed his meal and the company, so it was good.

Is it hot in here????

When it is so hot and sticky that the thought of going outside sets your brain to thinking, "wait, I know there are plenty of things to do inside". Poor old Clare is not getting walked as often, if only I could get going by 6am it would be cool enough, but I would be sleepwalking!

So here is a picture of when it was cold...enjoy

A WEEK AT THE Beach

"Crane's Vacation" scrawled in the sand on the last day, so sad, we had to leave.

The water was mostly calm, the sand was clean and white, the house was cool and comfortable and the thunderstorms were loud and watery...all in all, that's the best of a week in Florida.

We walked Clare, the wonder dog, her cousin, Maggie came on Tues nite, so she had constant companionship. She loved the walks but the blacktop and sand were hot on her feet. S, P,E, Band P all got color, some burnt, but no major toasting.

S and I had coffee every morning on the porch, the breeze and the sound of the ocean were wonderful, S actually relaxed... S learned to grill over charcoal again, with a few missteps, but had mahi mahi and shrimp on the grill that was wonderful. Ate at a restaurant called "stinkys", should have followed my instincts about eating at a place called "Stinky's" but enough said.

Clare was good on the drive but refused to lay down even though we made a bed for her in the back of the van. So when she got home she was sleeping for a long time.
These pics are from the drive home, everybody gave me a hard time about being nervous going over this bridge, but it wasn't the bridge that made me nervous, it was the close proximity of the water that gave me the frights.

Would like to do it again, but maybe a bigger house with a pool, I can dream can't I....

B, S, P and S on the beach......

Doll Quilt

My favorite brother's daughter has a baby girl who just turned one. I had given her a cute cradle for a doll, and finally finished this quilt to go with it. I want to make a pillow to go with it but need to contact my sister in law to find out the width of the cradle, don't want the pillow to be too small or too big.

S spent two hours yesterday installing a new ceiling fan in the living room. It is very large but gorgeous, craftsman style, I really like it.

This sun room is too small but when just two people sit out there it is very comfortable. It helps to lessen the impact of my torn up backyard that is taking forever because of the constant rain and wind we have been experiencing. I know when they are finished it will be beautiful.

Leave for the beach house soon, boy we all need it. Can't wait.
