Backyards and Beauties

This is my backyard...looks like a backyard where trees come to die, but I hope it will someday be, lush and green with grass and a kitchen garden.
I know some people are thinking, why cut down trees? Mostly because of the four acres we live on, this will be the only part that is not forest. I love forest, but would also love a backyard, and grass....and a place for a swing set, once my children get on the ball and give me a few grandchildren....(did I say that?)

But even with the "backyard" looking so bad, some things around this house give me solace. Like the flower beds around the house, my lovely roses, amazing irises, and of course, Clare.

Clare found something irresistable out in the woods, had to roll in it for at least as long as it took for S to pull her away. But of course she smelled like rotting corpse. Giving a smelly dog a bath first thing in the morning is not my idea of fun, but she smells sweet now and her fur is so soft.

Clare, the wonder dog!

Super Dog

You might wonder about why I say that my dog Clare is a "wonder dog". After looking at this picture, need I say more....

Kaleidescope quilts

I took a class last Thurs on Kaleidescope quilts, and the first fabric I picked turned out poorly. Note to self: never buy fabric that you don't love, you will never like the finished product!
The class was great fun, but once I learned the technique, I bought fabric I loved and it turned out beautifully. Question now is how do I set them on a quilt. This is all the fun part.....can't wait to get it done...

Ah, dogs

okay, it's noon, Sunday morning, and here she is, wanting to play with her tug toy. Luckily, I went back to sleep until 9:30 am, but she acts like she has never had a belly ache in her life. Guess dogs are just resilient. But for sleeps sake, I am only feeding her rice and boiled chicken to give her belly a rest. Clare the wonder dog....

Remember Clare.....she is my best dog, my sweetest dog...right now it is 4:30 in the morning and she is keeping me awake, with what I think is a stomachache. She whines to go out, then does nothing but eat grass. Looking up "why does my dog eat grass" on the internet, they say it is because she has a stomache ache or a need for fiber. Now she is sleeping and I am wide awake....hope somebody out there is having a good nights sleep, it certainly isnt me.

Hoping today isn't spent at the vets.

Here we are my favorite quilters....The quilt behind us is the one we were there to learn to make. It is called "Kaleidescope". We were all very excited to learn as we all like the design.
The class was at the quilt shop in Jonesboro, called "Quilts and Fixins". A great shop with lots of fabrics that are completely my taste. Kathy taught the class, fixed lunch and then we all shopped, then drove over to Denise's house to go thru her fabric she is selling before she leaves for Germany next month. Great deals and gorgeous fabric. We will miss you Denise.
