Guns with my lunch

S and I were enjoying a Saturday having lunch out after shopping, just doing what normal people do, it was fun.  While waiting to be served, a unsavory looking fellow walked by us on his way to the bar.  I glanced at him and saw that he had a gun sticking out of the back of his jeans.  What!  who is this guy to come into this restaurant with a gun.......is he planning on robbing the place, or does he just carry a gun wherever he goes so he never misses an opportunity to shoot someone.  Of course that someone could be anybody this random guy thinks needs shooting.  What has our world come to???Are we in the wild west???I understand that the brilliant minds in our state legislature passed a law that allows this kind of insanity.
So of course, I spent the rest of my time having lunch fuming because this idiot can make everyone around him nervous, wondering if he is a lunatic or just some knuckle dragging neanderthal looking for a victim.  They don't allow guns on planes, in the state capitol buildings or courtrooms, but they are fine with guns being in places that normal people are just trying to live their lives.  Thanks again Legislators for sticking to all those regular people....again!

Events since I blogged last

Long time between posts.....

Yes, they are engaged, A and S are getting married in October, aren't they just the cutest couple???
Meet the latest canine addition to our family, Gracie. She was our "Front Yard" dog, that never left, she stayed so long we decided we were meant to have her. She looks happy to have a family and gets along well with the other three girls. I am not happy about the people who let her go, she was not spayed, no collar just left, how can people do that to a poor animal. She is friendly and sweet and still learning to be civilized.....now if she would just stop opening doors that are shut for a reason....

we just spent a weekend with A. She is our favorite 10 year old, who's parents went on a trip and let us hang out with her for a few days. Thanks for hanging with us A. And thanks to her folks for the lobster, still kicking they brought us....YUM

Just had a bee lunch, will try to post a pic of the birthday girl tomorrow. Happy to be back, lets hope I can keep it up.

Where's my camera???

I would love to have a picture from our guild Christmas party last night, but again, I forgot my camera. I guess I am still living in the 70's thinking about taking a roll of film to the processor having them printed and all the trouble and expense.....it is so easy now there is no reason to take a million pictures...where is my head?

New Years Resolution: Take my camera whenever I leave the house.

Bee birthday at Bangkok Grill

Well, this is a picture of the restaurant and the lady who runs it shamelessly plugging her restaurant. The food was mediocre at best and had very little resemblance to real Tai food. The coconut soup tasted mostly like hot sauce and not at all like coconut. But I guess for a restaurant in Covington, one has to make it as generic as possible to stay in business.

On a happier note, a great time was had by all, we got to visit and exchange gifts and eat cake, what more can one ask. To C and L, Happy Happy Birthday! and hope we can all celebrate together for many more.

Brocolli

Isn't it amazing! I planted this about a month ago, and look what happened. Something in my garden did well, besides the basil and the peppers that are too hot to eat, that is. The brussell sprouts I planted are interesting, but not nearly as exciting as the brocolli.

I have gotten books about raising chickens and building chicken coops, and a book about goat raising, mostly for fun. But next spring will be the time to construct a coop and get a few chickens and have fresh eggs, that sounds very exciting as well.

Where has the time gone???????

I has been ages since my last post and alot has happened in that time. Mainly my desire to not deal with the bad stuff has kept me from coming back, but here I am and life is worth living again. In a nutshell, shortly after my last post, S developed diverticulitis and had surgery to remove part of his colon, three weeks later, he was back in the hospital with blood clots in both lungs and spent three days in ICU. After many months on blood thinners and another scare with his colon, we are finally feeling like things are getting better, and life is looking up. On the bright side I have lost 50 pounds in the last six months and feel much better, and my normal clothes fit again. My brother is moving here from California, for which I am very happy.

My children are healthy, my daughter has met and fallen in love with a wonderful young man, and no one close to me has died in the last year so life is good.

Maybe the good life will hang around for a while, and to make everyone smile, I am including a picture of Clare, the wonder dog. Enjoy!

the end of 2009

Can't believe that 09 is almost over and haven't posted more pictures of Clare the wonder dog.
She is bundled up on the sofa watching TV. She is an avid TV watcher, her favorite show is the "Dog Whisperer".

"you want me to do what??????"

This picture is her reaction when S said she had to get off the sofa, she looks ferocious, but she is mostly confused as to why we even ask her to be a dog,,,she thinks she is human.
These are random shots from our quilt lady Xmas party. Playing a trivia game with quilt ladies is difficult, having to answer questions to get a door prize is altogether too much work.

Quilt ladies and rolling the dice for free fabric is much more to our liking, we will do anything for fabric.

Goodbye 09, you had your moments, but as a whole I am ready for you to go. 2010, wow, lets keep our fingers crossed. Happy Holidays
everybody!

CBQ charity auction and sale

Here are two pictures of the same group. More realistic is the first one, yes I am trying to orchestrate the picture, even though the kid snapping the picture is perfectly capable of point and shoot. But in reality, I handed him the camera, but failed to tell him which of the several buttons to push. So there is a reason...but my husband and children will say that is me all the time....it is really unfair. Sort of.

Needless to say, we had a great group, they all did a fantastic job, and the charity will get some money....which they need desperately.

the third picture is there to show some of the quilts that were for sale, but always try to get in a picture of my BFF, Linda, she is always so great about helping me out when I get behind..Thanks, Linda

Oh, and a correction, we ate at "Sugar Cakes", not "Baby cakes that I said in the last post.

Lost in the Chaos

I have been having a lot of fun these past weeks, latest thing was the every other year, "Cobb Show". It is a wonderful quilt show, with many amazing quilts and lots of vendors selling all kinds of new stuff in quilting. This is 4 of our 8 members of our sewing bee, aren't they gorgeous! Wonderful women and quilters all.

Just acouple of the quilts on display, took tons of pictures, will post more later.

I had to include a picture of dessert. We all had to have it, but it was so rich and filling, we all felt about to burst. Isn't it beautiful, and so decadent and tasty. We had lunch at "Babycakes" on the Square in Marietta. Lunch was delicious, the ride home not so great, but we stopped at Red Hen, like we needed more fabric after the show, but every shop seems to have something we had to have.

It was a wonderful day and next month we are going to The Ga State Fair in Perry, they have a quilt contest there that we will have to check out.
Hopefully, not too long until I post again, but , fun is fun.

backyard revisited

okay this backyard business has been going on since April, and it is almost done...finally

the first two pictures depict how it looked 3 days ago

The next two are how it looks with the grass in. Great, huh? I wanted to include a picture of the inground sprinklers going, but they are still putting in the new sprinkler box.
To think this whole area used to be just trees, and nothing but trees...now we have a backyard...hooray!

Kaleidoscopes

These single kaleidoscopes have become....

These... at the retreat where I had quiet and the ability to concentrate I finally was able to implement the setting I wanted for these lovely blocks. I think it looks pretty striking!

the background color and the stripe work well together. of course block out the light color of my design wall,

See retreats are a good thing, you get so much done

Clare is a model

Clare is spectacular in her new backpack. She will now be able to carry stuff on our walks, like keys, phone, camera, poop bags and of course some water. She loves it, just wishes it were pink,(her signature color)

This is my BFF L, she is so happy to be at our Quilting Retreat over the weekend. There was great food, many other quilters and lots of inspiration. hope we can go back next year
